Meet and Greet

This year’s free MWLD Meet and Greet was held at Harringtons who treated us to bucket-loads of Prosecco accompanied by an array of pizza and bruschetta. To finish there was even a special desert pizza featuring Nutella and strawberries!

Thank you to all those who attended and grabbed their slice of the MLD action! We look forward to seeing you through the year at our next events.

Annual Quiz at The Everyman Bistro

This year's WLD annual quiz in support of Marie Curie Cancer Research was held on 9th March 2018 at the Everyman Bistro.

Participants were treated to delicious sharing platters filled with Focaccia, olives, hummus, rustic sausage rolls and more.

The winning team walked away with a basket of fizz and for the losers there was, as always, the WLD wooden spoon!

A big thank you to Steve and Laura who as ever did a brilliant job hosting the event. An even bigger thank you to those who attended and helped us raise over £700 for Marie Curie.

Gin Tasting at Jenever

The lovely Jenever gin bar hosted our gin tasting event on 2nd February.

Tickets sold out within hours and those lucky enough to bag a place weren't disappointed!

We were treated to 4 different gin varieties each served with a perfectly paired garnish. Nibbles of sandwiches and cocktail cupcakes also went down a treat!

Self Defence Training

We started the new Committee Year with our strong leg forwards.

Here are some pictures from our Self-defence event that was a hit. (Pun intended)

We learnt how to defend ourselves from a forward attacker, backwards attacker, being dragged along the floor and from a knife attack.

Getting our fighting stance

Getting down to business;

You think we are dancing but you are not getting out of our wrist lock;

Using our arm and knee strength to escape;

Knives don't scare us no more;

We had so much fun with this session. More importantly we saw that you do not need to have muscles or be strong to defend yourself from attacks. All it takes is skill and confidence!

 Special thank you to Millie and Cath!!
